Another legend suggests that, in ancient times, this area was inhabited by giants, who lived peacefully until the sun appeared for the first time in the sky. The light of the king star surprised them and, unable to react, they were turned into stone, forming the spectacular rocks that dominate the landscape today.
How to get to the Tinajani Canyon?
Located 150 kilometers north of Puno, at an altitude of 4,059 meters above sea level, this canyon is located near the city of Ayaviri.
To get there, you must first go to Ayaviri and from there take a detour that will take you to the canyon after a journey of 14 kilometers. This journey can be done by vehicle or on foot, as the terrain is mostly flat and offers an accessible walk for those who wish to enjoy the surroundings more calmly.
