What are the Huasao Wetlands?
The Huasao Wetlands is a natural area located in the Oropeza district, in the province of Quizpicanchi, about 40 minutes from the city of Cusco. They are famous for their beautiful landscapes and sculptures of animals, people, and other figures. The site consists of 4 bodies of water at the mouth of the Pacatusan Lagoon, surrounded by stone walls more than 1 meter high.
The wetland features a unique ecosystem along more than 1,000 meters of stone paths. Its main attractions are sculptures inspired by famous characters from fiction movies, such as Groot from “Guardians of the Galaxy,” the Tree Man from “The Lord of the Rings,” as well as other sculptures of local flora and fauna. If you see them in person, you’ll be surprised at how similar they are to the real ones!
Obviously, you can’t miss taking a photo with these sculptures, which detail the figures they represent. Adults and children in the family will love it!
