In another version of the story, a fisherman fell in love with her and wanted to take her to the sea, but the young woman preferred to stay in her aquatic home.

There are other interpretations about the creation of Huacachina. Some narratives claim that the oasis arose thanks to the goddess Huacca China, who inhabited the nearby mountains. The deity used to bathe in the Ica river and, on one occasion, upon dropping her feather headdress, it transformed into the lagoon.
Another version tells that a shaman, tired of the desert’s dryness, decided to ask the gods for help. To do this, he dug a well in the sand and performed a special ceremony. Shortly after, water began to flow, giving rise to this magical oasis.
