The Sacred Valley (Valle Sagrado) offers experiences that go beyond conventional tourism, allowing visitors to connect with shamanic traditions that have survived through the centuries. The deep spirituality that characterized the Inca civilization remains alive in numerous corners of this magical region.
For those seeking a transcendental experience, the Sacred Valley represents an unparalleled option. In addition to its impressive archaeological complexes, this ancestral route provides various activities that will enrich your visit with unforgettable memories.
Located approximately an hour from Cusco, the Sacred Valley offers you the possibility of living mystical experiences in close communion with the Pachamama (Mother Earth). This journey includes the opportunity to transcend the limits of ordinary perception through what is known as mystical tourism.
Below, we provide detailed information about the spiritual experiences available:
The Wachuma Experience (San Pedro)

Wachuma, extracted from the San Pedro cactus, is a traditional medicine that, according to Andean beliefs, facilitates the opening of the soul’s portals, accessing the subconscious to release internal afflictions.
This ritual practice is generally carried out under the guidance of experienced shamans who will accompany you on a journey through the heart of the Pachamama to establish a deep connection with yourself. The ceremony lasts approximately 12 hours and can be done with small groups, even starting with two participants, always with the presence of a specialized shaman.
During the ceremony, it is recommended to visit places with a strong energetic and cultural charge, such as archaeological sites or waterfalls, where the connection with nature and our inner self intensifies. The ceremonial drink is ingested in approximate quantities of 300 ml per person while participants form a circle with their fellow experience-goers. Subsequently, the journey continues, and the sacred drink is consumed again according to the instructions of the spiritual guide.
Ayahuasca: Amazonian Wisdom

Ayahuasca is an important part of mystical tourism in Cusco and is a traditional Amazonian ceremony that can be performed both outdoors and indoors. Lasting approximately 4 hours, these spiritual retreats employ various ancestral practices that allow access to expanded states of consciousness, facilitating deep exploration of the self and transcending the limits of ordinary perception.
This sacred plant grows mainly in the Peruvian Amazon jungle. In the Inca tradition, these ceremonies were used as initiation rites for future priests and included practices to heal various ailments, overcome fears, and transform harmful habits to achieve a better lifestyle.
The drink is administered in small quantities, similar to a shot, dosed by the shaman according to the participant’s gender, weight, and age.
The effects experienced include visions from the subconscious and, in some cases, purges which, according to tradition, symbolize the elimination of negative energies.
Temazcal Ceremony

The Temazcal (known as the Sauna of the Andes) represents a purification ritual practiced since ancient times by various cultures up to the present day. This ceremony naturally purifies and balances body, mind, and spirit, symbolizing a rebirth from the maternal womb. During the process, pores dilate, absorbing the healing properties of the plants while toxins are eliminated through perspiration.
The structure of the temazcal resembles an oven where medicinal plants selected according to healing needs are placed. Natural essential oils and aromatic incense are added. Heat comes from red-hot stones (called “abuelitos” or “little grandfathers”) placed inside. Adding the oils, incense, and cold water generates medicinal steam that incorporates all the elements used.
The Role of the Shaman

Shamanism is an ancestral practice imbued with magic and tradition that originates in indigenous communities. The shaman, also called a master, is the one who leads these ceremonies.
The shaman is an expert in the art of prediction and introspection. Endowed with special qualities, they act as a bridge between the tangible world and the invisible or spiritual dimensions.
Whether you wish to explore the impressive landscapes of the Sacred Valley or embark on a journey inward, this region offers alternatives for all tastes. From adventure activities to mystical experiences, the options are varied. Are you ready to choose your path?
