TRAVEL DESCRIPTION
The Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca) is one of the most amazing landscapes in Peru and the world. Its reddish, greenish, and golden tones are the result of millions of years of geological activity that painted the Andes mountain range with a natural rainbow.
On this tour, you will live a unique experience in contact with Andean nature, walking among snow-capped peaks, herds of alpacas, and the imposing presence of Apu Ausangate, the highest and most sacred mountain in Cusco.
The route is designed for those seeking adventure, spectacular landscapes, and a special connection with the energy of the Andes. Upon reaching the summit, the panoramic view will give you one of the most unforgettable postcards of your trip.

Day 01: Cusco + Cusipata + Pitumarca + Vinicunca + Cusco
- This amazing day will start very early, picking you up from your hotel between 4:00 and 4:30 a.m. approximately, to head south of Cusco. During the trip of about 2 hours and 30 minutes, you can take the opportunity to rest a little until we reach the town of Cusipata. Along the way, you will admire picturesque Andean villages, ancient Inca terraces, and majestic mountains.
- Then, near the town of Cusipata, you will enjoy a delicious semi-buffet breakfast with the traditional coca tea. Afterward, we will continue our journey until we reach the starting point of the hike. From this point, we will begin walking along a winding trail surrounded by incredible mountains.
- As we ascend, we will have an impressive view of the Ausangate snow-capped mountain (6,372 m / 20,905 ft), and you will see locals dressed in the traditional clothing they craft themselves.
- After a 2-hour hike, we will arrive at the stunning Rainbow Mountain (5,020 m / 16,470 ft), where you will have time to marvel at this unique natural formation. Our guide will share information about its origin and significance while you explore the surroundings and capture spectacular photos. After enjoying the summit for about 30 minutes to 1 hour, we will descend for approximately 2 hours back to the starting point of the hike.
