Recommendations for your trip
Health Recommendations
- The Ausangate Spiritual Tour takes place between 4,000 and 5,000 m.a.s.l., so it is essential to arrive in Cusco at least 2 days in advance for proper acclimatization. If you have heart or respiratory conditions, high blood pressure, or if you are pregnant, please inform the agency before booking.
- The ceremonies and hikes are carried out in high mountain areas and outdoors. Always walk at a comfortable pace and take breaks whenever necessary.
- Stay hydrated throughout the day; the altitude and cold weather can cause fatigue, dehydration, or altitude sickness.
- Bring sunscreen, a hat or cap, sunglasses, water, light snacks, and any personal medication you may need.
- Avoid heavy meals and alcoholic beverages the day before the tour, as they may affect your performance at high altitude.
- The weather in Ausangate is cold and unpredictable, with frequent wind and light rain. Wear thermal, waterproof, and layered clothing, as well as proper mountain footwear.
- Respect the natural environment, sacred spaces, lagoons, and mountains considered Apus (spirit guardians) by local communities.
