What happens if I can’t find availability of the local train?

If the local train is not available, we will take the Expedition tourist train option, for which you must add USD$ 130.00 to the package “which is the price of the Expedition train ticket”.

How far in advance should I book the tour to Machu Picchu from Cusco?

We receive reservations at least 48 hours in advance. However, spaces are limited and are always subject to availability. Tickets for the Machu Picchu citadel are in high demand and in some cases are sold out months in advance. For this reason, we recommend that you make your reservation as far in advance as possible.

How long does the visit to Machu Picchu last?

The tour lasts three hours. In the first hour you will have a guided tour of the citadel. Then, you will have the rest of the time to walk around the citadel freely.

I have already purchased my entrance ticket to Machu Picchu, is it possible to book the program discounting the entrance fee from the total price?

Yes, to make the reservation in this way, you must write to reservas@mundomapi.com, indicating the number of people traveling and the date you want to start the program, and we will send you the corresponding quote along with the instructions for booking.

What is the weather like in Machu Picchu?

Machu Picchu is located between the Andes Mountains and the Amazon rainforest, having a warm and temperate climate, with an average minimum temperature of 12 °C and an average maximum temperature of 24 °C. From April to October is the dry season in the area, that is, during that period there is a lower probability of rainfall, while from November to March is the rainy season, that is, during that period there is a higher probability of rainfall. Notwithstanding the above differentiation, during all days of the year there is a possibility of rain, since this is a subtropical zone.

Suggested Minimum and Maximum Age:

• Children under 12 years old must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
• Senior adults (65+) should have medical clearance for high-altitude hiking activities.

Travel Insurance:

• We recommend having travel insurance that covers medical assistance and emergency evacuation.

Health Measures

• It is recommended to stay well hydrated and carry a personal water bottle.
• Use sunscreen and a hat or cap for protection against sun exposure.
• Carry hand sanitizer and personal hygiene items.
• If you have a fever or respiratory symptoms, it is recommended not to join the tour to protect the group.

Safety Requirements During the Tour

• Always follow the guide’s instructions.
• Respect safety rules in transportation, trains, buses, and trails.
• Wearing proper footwear (trekking shoes or similar) is mandatory.
• Do not leave the group without notifying the guide first.
• Respect sacred, archaeological, and natural sites responsibly (do not litter or remove flora or fauna).

• We have a basic first-aid kit and provide first-aid assistance.
• During hiking tours, emergency oxygen will be available in case of altitude sickness.
• Our team will coordinate a quick evacuation to the nearest health center if necessary.
