The rules that must be respected inside Machu Picchu are:
- Entrance to the Inca citadel is allowed from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- The entry and consumption of alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited.
- Hydration drinks must be carried in bottles (but not disposable ones).
- Eating food inside the archaeological park is not permitted.
- Pets are not allowed.
- Throwing garbage inside the site is forbidden. Trash bins are available outside the archaeological complex.
- Smoking and lighting fires are strictly prohibited.
- Regarding luggage, only small bags and backpacks are allowed. However, if you have large luggage, you may leave it at the storage area before entering the archaeological site; this service has an additional cost of 3 to 5 soles.
- Climbing Inca walls or scratching or painting them is strictly forbidden.
- Visitors must act responsibly; if you are accompanied by children, please supervise them to prevent any behavior that could cause irreversible damage.
- There are no restroom facilities inside the Machu Picchu Sanctuary. It is recommended to use them before entering.
