Tour through the Sacred Valley of the Incas, starting with the archaeological site and artisan market of Pisac. Then, explore the fortress of Ollantaytambo, one of the last Inca strongholds, before boarding the train to Aguas Calientes.

Day 05

Aguas Calientes / Machu Picchu / Aguas Calientes / Ollantaytambo / Cusco

Early ascent to the majestic Machu Picchu, where we will explore its temples, plazas, and terraces. After a guided tour, return to Aguas Calientes and take the train to Ollantaytambo, followed by transfer to Cusco.

  • Huaca Pucllana: We will start with a panoramic view of this impressive pre-Inca archaeological site, built in the 4th century A.D. and considered a “Sacred Village” by the Incas.
  • Historic Center of Lima: We will dive into colonial Lima, admiring more than 50 monuments and historic buildings such as:

  • At 4:00 a.m., we will begin our adventure departing from the city of Lima heading south along the Pan-American Highway.
  • Upon arrival in Paracas, at approximately 8:00 a.m., we will board modern boats for a tour to the Ballestas Islands. Along the way, you will be able to observe:
  • The impressive geoglyph “El Candelabro,” an enigmatic figure etched into the sand that continues to intrigue archaeologists and researchers. After the boat tour, we will take a panoramic visit through the Paracas National Reserve, a protected natural area that combines desert, sea, and spectacular cliffs.
  • From its viewpoints, you can admire reddish sand beaches and the vastness of the Pacific Ocean. Afterwards, we will continue the trip to the city of Ica, famous for its production of wines and pisco. Here, we will enjoy a delicious lunch at a traditional winery, where we will also have the opportunity to learn about the production process of these beverages and take part in a tasting.
  • In the afternoon, we will arrive at the Huacachina Oasis, a unique landscape surrounded by tall sand dunes.
  • Sandboarding: Experience the thrill of sliding down the desert sands on a board, an activity perfect for both beginners and adventure seekers.
  • After enjoying the sunset in Huacachina, we will begin the return trip to the city of Lima, arriving at approximately 10:00 p.m., concluding a day full of nature, adventure, and culture.

  • For better adaptation to the altitude (3,400 m.a.s.l.), we suggest resting and drinking coca tea before the tour.
  • After lunch, we will begin our exciting exploration of Cusco and its surroundings at 1:00 p.m.
  • We will start by visiting Qoricancha, an impressive Inca temple dedicated to the Sun God (Inti), originally covered with sheets of gold.
  • From the city, we will head to Cusco’s most iconic archaeological sites. First, we will explore Sacsayhuamán, an imposing fortress built with enormous stone blocks. Next, we will visit Qenqo, a mysterious ceremonial center with underground galleries and zigzag channels, where the Incas performed rituals in honor of their gods.
  • The tour will continue to Puka Pukara, also known as the Red Fortress, an Inca military complex with reddish stone structures, used as a checkpoint and shelter for travelers. Finally, we will visit Tambomachay, an Inca sanctuary dedicated to the worship of water and purification. Its fountains and water channels reflect the Incas’ advanced hydraulic knowledge.

  • At midday, we will head to Urubamba, a town located in the heart of the Sacred Valley, to enjoy a buffet lunch with a variety of Peruvian dishes.

We will start early with the transfer to the bus station to board the transport that, in a journey of approximately 25 minutes, will take us to the entrance of the majestic Archaeological Sanctuary of Machu Picchu.
  • Upon arrival, you will feel the magical energy of this site, its mild climate, and the peace that can be felt in every corner. From the very first moment, you will be amazed by the natural beauty that surrounds it, its artificial terraces, the harmony of its stone constructions, and its ceremonial temples.
  • During the tour, our guide will provide detailed information about the history and mysteries of Machu Picchu. You will closely observe the enormous stone blocks precisely assembled, a testimony to Inca architectural ingenuity. The guided visit will last approximately two hours, during which you will be able to explore its main enclosures and temples, as well as enjoy the breathtaking panoramic views.
  • After this fascinating experience, we will descend once again to the town of Aguas Calientes, where you will have free time for lunch and, if you wish, to relax in the hot springs or explore the picturesque town before boarding the train back to Ollantaytambo.   • At midday, we will enjoy a buffet lunch in Sicuani, then continue to Abra La Raya (4,335 m.a.s.l.), the highest point of the route, surrounded by snow-capped mountains and vast plains. Later, we will stop at the Pukara Museum, which preserves pre-Inca pieces and the famous ceramic “toritos.”
  • Finally, in the late afternoon, we will arrive in Puno, on the shores of the enigmatic Lake Titicaca, where the next part of our experience awaits.

Here we will learn about the history and way of life of the Uro community, who have preserved their ancestral traditions over time.
  • We will continue our journey to Taquile Island, arriving around 11:30 a.m. From the port, we will take a walk of approximately 40 minutes to the main town. During the visit, we will discover the cultural richness of the island’s inhabitants, who are internationally recognized for their exceptional textile art.
