Guide: How to get to Aramu Muru and what you need to know

Where is it located?

Aramu Muru is located in the district of Juli, province of Chucuito, in the department of Puno, Peru. It is approximately 70 km (approx. 43.5 miles) south of the city of Puno.

How to get there?

From Puno city:

  1. On an organized tour:
    • There are daily tours that combine Aramu Muru with other attractions such as the Fertility Temple (Chucuito) or the Lupaca viewpoint.
    • They last half a day (approx. 4 to 5 hours).
  2. By public transport:
    • From the zonal terminal in Puno, take a minivan towards Desaguadero (route to Bolivia) and get off in Chucuito or Juli.
    • From there, you can take a taxi to Aramu Muru. The taxi can cost between 20 and 40 soles depending on the departure point.
  3. By private taxi or rented car:
    • Ideal if you want more flexibility.
    • From Puno, the journey takes between 1 to 1.5 hours.
    • The road is paved almost entirely.
