PROGRAM OVERVIEW

We begin our hike in Challacancha, heading to Soraypampa. In the afternoon, we visit the beautiful Humantay Lake and spend the night in the Sky Dome as part of the 2-Day Humantay Lake & Salkantay Tour.

Early in the morning, we hike up to the Salkantay Pass, then return to Soraypampa for lunch before heading back to Cusco—concluding our incredible 2-day Humantay Lake + Salkantay Tour.
TRAVEL ITINERARY
Day 01: Cusco / Challacancha / Soraypampa / Humantay Lake / Skydome
- This exciting two-day adventure to Humantay and Salkantay will begin with pickup from your hotel in our private transportation. Then we will go to the town of Mollepata, where we will enjoy a delicious breakfast before continuing to Challacancha on a trip of approximately 3 hours.
- Once there, we will begin our walk enjoying the impressive landscapes and the exuberant flora and fauna that surround us, until we reach the Soraypampa camp.
- Upon arrival at the camp, we will settle into our comfortable Sky Domes, which offer a spectacular view of the starry sky, as well as private bathrooms and hydromassage showers.
- We will be located in a privileged place, in front of the imposing snow-capped peaks of Salkantay and Humantay, where our staff will welcome us with a delicious lunch. Afterwards, we will have free time and in the afternoon we will visit the impressive Humantay Lake, known for its turquoise waters and located 4,200 meters above sea level. We will return to the camp to enjoy dinner and spend an unforgettable night under the starry sky.

Day 02: Sky Camp / Salkantaypampa / Salkantaypass / Sorococha / Soraypampa / Cusco
- Today we will face our great challenge by reaching the highest point of our walk, from where we can enjoy some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world. We will be surrounded by the imposing mountains known as Apus in the time of the Incas, gradually ascending the path known as “The Footprint of the 7 Serpents”, until we reach the impressive Abra Salkantay, located at 4,638 meters above sea level. / 15,213 feet above sea level. We will immerse ourselves in nature and connect deeply with ourselves, losing track of time.
- After admiring the wonderful view of the majestic snow-capped Salkantay and feeling the energy of its force, we will descend through a landscape of stones until we reach Soraypampa, where our place for lunch at Sky Camp awaits us.
- The effort will be worth it, since we will live an extraordinary experience on the Salkantay hike. Then, we will continue our final march to the point where our transportation awaits us, which will take us back to the city of Cusco. We estimate to arrive approximately between 6:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Recommendations
- Prior acclimatization: Spend a day or two in Cusco to acclimatize to the altitude and reduce the risk of altitude sickness during the hike.
- Good physical condition: The walk to Laguna Humantay and Salkantay is demanding. It is important that you have good physical condition and experience in mountain hiking.
- Appropriate clothing: Wear layered trekking clothing to adapt to weather changes, including a waterproof and windproof jacket. Temperatures can be low, especially in the early morning.
- Sturdy footwear: Wear comfortable, water-resistant trekking boots. The terrain is uneven and in some sections can be slippery.
- Constant hydration: Carry enough water or use a bottle with a filter to stay hydrated throughout the journey.
- Sun protection: The sun at high altitude is intense, so it is important to wear sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat or cap.
- Energy snacks: Bring energy bars, nuts or dehydrated fruits to maintain your energy levels during the walk.
- Trekking poles: They are very useful for maintaining balance and reducing the impact on the knees, especially on ups and downs.
- Equipment for the cold: During the night, especially in the area near Salkantay, temperatures can drop drastically. Bring a good sleeping bag and thermal clothing.
- Respect the environment: It is important to be aware of the environmental impact. Carry a bag for your trash and follow established routes to preserve the natural environment.
