Huaypo Lagoon and Maras Salt Flats Itinerary

DAY 1: CUSCO / CRUZPATA - CHINCHERO / MARAS / MORAY HUAYPO / CUSCO

We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco and head toward Cruzpata, a small town in the Sacred Valley located about 50 minutes away. Along the way, you will enjoy beautiful Andean landscapes with farmland, mountains, and local communities. Upon arrival, you will receive a safety briefing and a short practice session to familiarize yourself with the ATVs. No previous experience is required, as the guide will provide all the necessary instructions for a safe and comfortable ride.

Visit to the Maras Salt Mines

We will continue the ATV route to the Maras Salt Mines, one of the most iconic landscapes in the Sacred Valley. This ancient system of more than 3,000 salt ponds offers unique views with white and earthy tones. You will learn about the traditional salt extraction process and, if you wish, you may purchase local products such as the well-known pink salt of Maras.

Exploration of Huaypo Lagoon

We will then continue to Huaypo Lagoon, located at over 3,500 m.a.s.l. and known for its peaceful atmosphere and beautiful scenery. It is an ideal place for observing Andean birds and enjoying impressive views; on clear days, the lagoon reflects the snow-capped peaks of Salkantay and Verónica.

Return to Cusco

After the exploration, we will ride back to Cruzpata, where our transportation will be waiting to take us back to Cusco. Along the way, you can continue enjoying the landscapes of the Sacred Valley. We will arrive in the city at approximately 1:20 p.m., ending an experience that combines adventure, culture, and nature.
