You’ll start in Lima and the Huacachina oasis before flying to Cusco to explore the imperial city, the Sacred Valley, and Machu Picchu. Then you’ll visit the stunning Rainbow Mountain and travel along the Route of the Sun to Puno. On the high plateau, you’ll sail on Lake Titicaca before crossing into Bolivia to visit Copacabana, La Paz, and the incredible Uyuni Salt Flats with their colorful lagoons.

Travel Itinerary Peru and Bolivia 14 days | Machu Picchu and Salar de Uyuni
Day 01: Arrival in Lima
- Upon your arrival at Jorge Chávez International Airport in Lima, our team will be waiting to welcome you and transfer you to your hotel. On the way, you will receive a brief orientation about the city and useful recommendations for your stay.
- Once at the hotel, you will have time to rest and acclimate. Depending on your arrival time, you can take advantage of the afternoon or evening to stroll through the Miraflores district, enjoy the view of the Pacific Ocean from the boardwalk, or taste Peruvian cuisine at a local restaurant.
- Accommodation: Hotel in Lima.
Day 02: Huacachina Excursion
- Early departure to Ica (approx. 4 hours). Upon arrival, you will visit the Huacachina oasis, surrounded by dunes and palm trees.
- Enjoy an adrenaline-filled experience with a dune buggy ride and sandboarding, sliding down the sand.
- Before returning, you will visit a local winery to learn about the production process of wines and pisco, with a tasting included.
- Return to Lima in the afternoon.

Day 03: Flight to Cusco – Acclimatization
- In the morning, transfer to the airport to take your flight to Cusco.
- Upon arrival, you will be welcomed with coca tea, which helps with the altitude (3,399 m / 11,152 ft). Transfer to the hotel and free afternoon to rest.
- You can take a relaxed walk around the Main Square, visit the Cathedral, and stroll along the cobblestone streets lined with Inca stone walls. Accommodation: Hotel in Cusco
Day 04: Cusco City Tour
- Breakfast at the hotel. Free morning to rest or walk around the city.
- In the afternoon, you’ll start the City Tour visiting Qoricancha (Temple of the Sun), the most important temple of the Inca Empire.
- You’ll then visit the nearby archaeological sites:
- Sacsayhuamán: Impressive ceremonial fortress with enormous stone blocks.
- Qenqo: Ceremonial center with rock-carved altars.
- Puka Pukara: Military outpost that controlled access routes to Cusco.
- Tambomachay: Temple of Water with Inca fountains and canals.
Day 05: Sacred Valley and train to Aguas Calientes
- Breakfast at the hotel. Early departure to the Sacred Valley of the Incas.
- First stop at the Pisac handicraft market, where you’ll find textiles, silver jewelry, ceramics, and local handicrafts.
- Continue to the Ollantaytambo fortress, an archaeological complex that served as a military, religious, and agricultural center. From here, you’ll enjoy spectacular views of the valley and Inca terraces.
- In the afternoon, board the panoramic train to Aguas Calientes, following the course of the Urubamba River into the high jungle.

Day 06: Machu Picchu – Return to Cusco
- After breakfast, you’ll take the bus up to the entrance of Machu Picchu, one of the New 7 Wonders of the Modern World.
- Guided tour through the main sectors: Main Square, Temple of the Sun, Intihuatana (solar clock), agricultural terraces, and sacred precincts.
- You’ll have free time to explore on your own or hike Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain (with advance reservation).
- In the afternoon, take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes to board the train returning to Ollantaytambo. From there, private transfer to Cusco. Meals: Breakfast Accommodation: Hotel in Cusco
Day 07: Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca)
Very early departure towards the Ausangate mountain range. After breakfast on the way, you will start the hike to Rainbow Mountain (5,000 m / 16,404 ft).
The trail crosses Andean landscapes with llamas and alpacas until you reach the summit, where you’ll see the reddish, turquoise, golden, and green stripes that make Vinicunca so famous.
Free time for photos and to contemplate this natural spectacle, considered sacred by local communities.
Return hike and Andean lunch before heading back to Cusco.

Day 08: Route of the Sun – Cusco to Puno
Breakfast at the hotel. Today you’ll take a scenic bus ride from Cusco to Puno along the famous Route of the Sun.
Stops along the way:
- Andahuaylillas: The “Sistine Chapel of America”, a baroque church with impressive frescoes.
- Raqchi: Archaeological complex dedicated to the god Wiracocha.
- La Raya: The highest point on the route (4,335 m / 14,222 ft) with views of the Andes mountain range.
Buffet lunch at a countryside restaurant. Arrival in Puno in the afternoon.

Day 09: Lake Titicaca – Uros and Taquile
Breakfast at the hotel. Early departure to navigate Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world (3,812 m / 12,507 ft).
First stop at the Uros floating islands, built with totora reeds. You’ll learn how these communities live and discover their ancestral building techniques.
Continue to Taquile Island, famous for its textile tradition recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. After a gentle hike, you’ll enjoy lake views and a typical lunch prepared by the local community.
Return to Puno in the afternoon.

Day 10: Crossing into Bolivia – La Paz – Uyuni

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure toward the border with Bolivia to enter Copacabana, a town on the shores of Lake Titicaca famous for its sanctuary.

At night, you’ll board a tourist sleeper bus to Uyuni, crossing the Altiplano.

Day 11: Uyuni Salt Flats and Incahuasi Island

Early arrival in Uyuni. Start of the tour in the largest salt flat in the world.
You will visit:
- Train Cemetery: Old, abandoned locomotives.
- Colchani: Local community where you’ll see the salt extraction and refining process.
- Salt Eyes: Natural formations where water springs up from beneath the salt crust.
- Incahuasi Island: An oasis covered with giant cacti and 360° viewpoints.
At the end of the day, you’ll enjoy a magical sunset where the sky is reflected on the white surface of the salt flat.
At night, a photo session under the starry sky of the salt flats.

Day 12: High-Altitude Lagoons and Siloli Desert
Breakfast at the hotel. Journey to the Chiguana Salt Flat, surrounded by active volcanoes.
You will visit the Cañapa, Hedionda, and Charcota lagoons, home to Andean flamingos, vicuñas, and viscachas.
Stop at the Stone Tree, a rock formation sculpted by the wind in the Siloli Desert.
Arrival at Laguna Colorada, with its intense reddish tones, one of Bolivia’s natural gems.
Dinner and overnight in rustic accommodation in Colchaca.

Day 13: Geysers and Lagoons – Return to La Paz

Y hablando de eso, Sam fue una enciclopedia andante de Machu Pichu y toda la historia incaica y peruana. Vino preparado con un folleto para explicar los lugares y eventos clave que llevaron a cómo y por qué Machu Pichu se paró en la cima de esas montañas. El único inconveniente fue que reservé tarde y solo experimenté el punto de vista y no tuve la oportunidad de caminar dentro de la ciudad.
