- On our route, we will visit Paucartambo, a picturesque colonial town with cobblestone streets and a rich cultural heritage. Later, we will stop at Ninamarca to explore the chullpas, or funerary tombs, belonging to the pre-Inca LUPACA culture, which inhabited this region before the rise of the Inca Empire.
- We will continue ascending until we reach Acjanaco, the entrance point to Manu National Park, from where we will begin our descent into the cloud forest, an ecosystem of great biodiversity and natural beauty.
- The cloud forest of Manu is home to a huge variety of flora and fauna species. In this lush environment, we will observe epiphytes, bromeliads, and orchids, as well as different species of birds and mammals.
- One of the most special moments of our walk will be the opportunity to spot the Andean Cock-of-the-rock, Peru’s national bird, famous for its bright red-orange color and courtship ritual. With some luck, we may also see toucans, trogons, quetzals, and even some monkey species that inhabit the area.

- After breakfast, we will venture out on a hike along the Amazon forest trails, where we will have the opportunity to admire the impressive diversity of flora and fauna in this region.
- During the walk, we will encounter giant rubber trees, tonillo, and ficus, species that are part of the ecological balance of the jungle and serve as shelter for groups of capuchin monkeys, woolly monkeys, and howler monkeys. As we continue, we will be amazed by the presence of exotic birds such as macaws, parrots, and woodpeckers, whose colors and songs make the experience even more enriching.
- In the afternoon, we will head to one of the most special places in the jungle: the mammal clay lick. This site is a gathering point for several animal species that come to consume mineral-rich clay, which helps them neutralize toxins from their diet.
- To reach this incredible place, we will take a hike of approximately 35 minutes through the forest, surrounded by the magic of the Amazon environment. Upon arrival, we will head to the observation hide, a wooden platform raised more than 13 feet high, perfectly camouflaged among the trees.
- From this strategic point, we will be able to observe the Amazonian tapir, one of the most representative mammals of the region, as well as peccaries, deer, and, with some luck, the majestic jaguar (Panthera onca), the largest feline in South America.
- The observation platform is equipped with mosquito nets and mats, allowing us to wait comfortably for the arrival of the animals while immersing ourselves in the magic of the nocturnal jungle.
- For those who wish to continue exploring, our guides will organize night walks, where we can discover another side of the jungle. During this experience, we will have the chance to spot bioluminescent insects, exotic frogs, tarantulas, and listen to the mysterious sounds of the Amazon night.

- From our strategic position, we will witness a unique natural spectacle: flocks of parakeets, parrots, and small green macaws arrive at the clay lick to consume the clay, which helps them neutralize toxins in their diet. This ritual is one of the most fascinating wonders of the Amazon ecosystem.
- After enjoying this impressive natural show, we will have a healthy outdoor breakfast, surrounded by the biodiversity of the jungle.
- Continuing our exploration, we will visit Machuwasi Lake, a body of water surrounded by lush vegetation and home to numerous species of Amazon flora and fauna.
- With the help of a telescope and binoculars, we will be able to observe various species of water birds such as herons, hawks, ducks, and orioles, as well as families of capybaras—the world’s largest rodents—that usually gather along the lake’s shores. With a bit of luck, we might even spot an anaconda or a boa constrictor, two of the Amazon’s most impressive reptiles.
- In the afternoon, we will have time to relax and enjoy the tropical waters of the river, with the possibility of swimming or practicing traditional fishing in a natural and safe environment.
- At nightfall, we will embark on a nocturnal walk along the river and swampy areas, exploring hidden lagoons and less-traveled spots within the Amazon rainforest.
- Equipped with headlamps and flashlights, we will search for the glowing eyes of caimans, which reflect the light in the darkness and make them easy to spot. Guided by our expert, we will safely approach to observe these impressive reptiles up close—some of the oldest predators in the Amazon ecosystem.

- Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
- Accommodation: Lodge stay.
DAY 10: MANU / ATALAYA PORT / SAN PEDRO / CUSCO

- From the port, we will continue our trip by bus, once again crossing the transition from the low jungle to the cloud forest, an ecosystem of great biodiversity. We will make a stop at San Pedro, where we will have another opportunity to observe the Andean Cock-of-the-rock, Peru’s national bird, in its natural habitat.
- This species is known for its striking red-orange plumage and its characteristic courtship ritual, in which the males perform a display of jumps and calls to attract the females.
- After our visit to San Pedro, we will continue our return journey by road, once again ascending into the Peruvian Andes and crossing the mountainous landscapes that will lead us back to the city of Cusco.

RECOMENDACIONES
Be prepared for different climates
- In Lima the weather is mild, in Cusco and Machu Picchu nights are cold, and in the Amazon (Manu) it is hot and very humid. The best option is to bring layered clothing to adapt easily.
- Cusco is over 3,300 meters above sea level, so take it easy the first few days, stay well hydrated, and try the traditional coca tea. This will help you enjoy your visit to Machu Picchu and mountain tours more.
Travel light to the jungle
- For Manu you’ll need comfortable, light clothing, but also long-sleeve shirts and pants to protect yourself from mosquitoes. A headlamp, repellent, and a small backpack will make your excursions easier.
Enjoy the local cuisine
- Peru is a culinary paradise. Dare to try ceviche in Lima, pachamanca in Cusco, and Amazon fruits in Manu. It’s part of the cultural experience.
Respect nature and culture
- In both Machu Picchu and the jungle, be a responsible traveler: don’t leave trash, don’t pick plants, and don’t feed the animals. Also respect the local customs of the communities you’ll visit.
Connect with the moment
- There will be places without cell signal or WiFi (especially in Manu). Take advantage of these moments to disconnect and connect with yourself, with nature, and with the experience.
Carry cash in soles
- Not all places accept cards, especially in small towns or in the Amazon. It’s better to always have some cash on hand.
Travel insurance recommended
- It is advisable to have insurance that covers health, flight disruptions, or lost luggage. That way you can travel with total peace of mind.
