What to Bring for Your Trip

Travel Guide – Rules at Machu Picchu

When visiting Machu Picchu, it is important to follow these rules to protect the site and ensure a safe and respectful experience:

• Entrance hours: from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
• Bringing or consuming alcoholic beverages is strictly prohibited.
• Drinks must be carried in reusable bottles (disposable bottles are not allowed).
• Eating is not allowed inside the archaeological park.
• Pets are not allowed.
• Do not litter inside the site; trash bins are available outside the archaeological area.
• Smoking or lighting fires is strictly prohibited.
• Only small bags or backpacks are allowed. Larger luggage can be stored at the entrance lockers (additional fee of approximately 3 to 5 soles).
• Climbing, scratching, or damaging the Inca walls is forbidden.
• If you are traveling with children, keep them supervised at all times to avoid accidents or damage to the heritage site.
• There are no restrooms inside the Sanctuary; it is recommended to use them before entering.

Health Measures

• It is recommended to stay well hydrated and carry a personal water bottle.
