Depending on the season, you may witness the sunrise at this magical place, a famous masterpiece of architecture and engineering; it is also believed to have been a sanctuary and energy center.
- Today, Machu Picchu is recognized by UNESCO as one of the Seven Wonders of the World and a World Heritage Site.
- Optional: The hike to the summit of Huayna Picchu, though a demanding climb with steep trails, features impressive ruins and spectacular views, lasting about 2 hours.

Day 05: Sacred Valley + Ollantaytambo + Moray + Maras Salt Mines + Chinchero / Tambo Del Inka Hotel Urubamba
- Breakfast at the hotel in Urubamba.
- We will then begin our tour with a visit to the “living” Inca town of Ollantaytambo, an ancient Inca administrative center and gateway to the Antisuyo (the Amazonian corner of the Inca Empire), located at the northern end of the Sacred Valley. At the time of the Spanish invasion and conquest of Peru, Ollantaytambo served as the last stronghold of Manco Inca Yupanqui, leader of the Inca resistance. Today, the ruins and the town of Ollantaytambo remain one of the most important and popular tourist attractions in the Sacred Valley.
- After enjoying a visit to the impressive archaeological site of Ollantaytambo, we will head to a local restaurant in Urubamba to enjoy a delicious buffet lunch (included at one of the best restaurants in the Sacred Valley).
- We will then continue to Moray, an ancient site designed for agricultural research and the study of different crops at various altitudes. This site is characterized by many concentric terraces “rings” that create a fine gradient of microclimates. The heat of the central lower ring dissipates gradually as the terraces rise outward and upward, resulting in decreasing temperatures until reaching the normal ground level temperature.
- Finally, we will visit Chinchero: the town of the rainbow, home to the ruins of the royal palace of Inca Túpac Inca Yupanqui, a community located on a high plateau overlooking many of the snow-capped peaks of the Cusco region. Here, we will admire the well-preserved Inca walls of the main square as well as the numerous altars. We will also visit the beautiful colonial church of Chinchero, unique for its interior paintings and illustrations.
- In addition, we will participate in a wonderful introduction and hands-on experience with the art of Andean textiles; throughout the afternoon, we will learn the ancestral wisdom of weaving, preserved long before Inca times.
- Meals: Breakfast and buffet lunch in Urubamba.
- Accommodation: Hotel in Urubamba.
Day 06: Visit to Pisaq + Pisaq Market + Awana kancha Animal Sanctuary + Cusco
- Breakfast at the hotel in Urubamba.
- Afterwards, our private transport will be waiting at the hotel door to take you to one of the greatest archaeological gems of the Sacred Valley. The impressive Inca temple of Pisac is located on the mountainside high above the town of Pisac.
- This is certainly a must-see visit for anyone heading to the Sacred Valley. In addition, Pisac is mainly known for two reasons: its famous handicraft market and its archaeological site. Here we will have free time to explore the market and interact with many local artisans.
- After enjoying the traditional market, we will return to Cusco. On the way, we will make a stop to visit the Awana Kancha Animal Sanctuary, where you will get to know the variety of South American camelids.

Recommendations
- The first thing you should do is purchase your Machu Picchu ticket and your train tickets in advance, especially if your visit is during the high season (May – September).
- Do not forget to carry your identification document in your luggage, whether it is your passport, student ID, or national ID card (DNI).
- To board the train, you must be at the station 30 minutes before departure time and present your ticket and identification document. Otherwise, you will not be allowed to board the train.
- It is important to carry cash in Peruvian soles and U.S. dollars in small denominations, as most places in Aguas Calientes do not accept credit cards. However, you will find plenty of ATMs in Cusco, Ollantaytambo, and Aguas Calientes.
- The most crowded visiting hours at Machu Picchu are between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Therefore, it is recommended to go up to the Inca citadel early in the morning or later in the afternoon so you can enjoy your tour more peacefully.
- If you are from the United States or the European Community, you do not need a visa for stays of less than 90 days. If you are coming from countries that are part of the Andean Community (CAN), you can enter simply by presenting your national ID card.
