Sky Domes in Salkantay are transparent domes that allow you to sleep with a direct view of the 6,271-meter snow-capped mountain. They are located approximately 3 hours from Cusco, in the Mollepata district. This luxury stay is the centerpiece of our exclusive Humantay and Salkantay 2-day Tour, an optimized itinerary that combines the famous turquoise lagoon with the impressive pass.
What your stay includes
Each dome features:
- Queen-size bed with thermal bedding
- Private bathroom with hot water shower
- Heating system for cold nights (temperature can drop to -5°C)
- Transparent ceiling and walls with privacy curtain options
- Dinner and breakfast included
How to make your reservation
You can book directly through their website or via WhatsApp. I recommend booking at least 2 weeks in advance, especially if traveling between May and September (high season). The average price ranges from 350-450 soles per person per night.

Practical information you need to know
What to bring:
- Warm clothing for the night (fleece, jacket, beanie)
- Sunscreen and sunglasses
- Flashlight or headlamp
- Altitude sickness medication if you’re sensitive to elevation
Access: Transportation from Cusco is not always included. Ask when booking. If going on your own, you can take a taxi or bus to Mollepata and then coordinate the transfer to the lodge.
Best time to visit: From April to October you have a better chance of clear skies to see the mountain and stars. During the rainy season (November to March) visibility is limited.
What to expect during your stay
You arrive in the afternoon, settle into your dome, and can take a short walk around the area. Dinner is served around 7 pm. The main activity is stargazing from your bed and waking up to the view of Salkantay illuminated by the morning sun.
There is no cell signal or wifi in the area. It’s a real break from the city.
Tip: If you’re very sensitive to cold, ask if they have additional electric blankets. Although there is heating, winter nights can be challenging.
