DESCRIPTION OF THE TRIP


The 2-day ATV Adventure to Maras, Moray, Machu Picchu, and Huayna Picchu is ideal for those seeking a unique experience in Cusco. You will enjoy an exciting ATV ride through the impressive landscapes of the Sacred Valley, exploring the archaeological sites of Maras and Moray, before embarking on an unforgettable visit to Machu Picchu and the majestic Huayna Picchu Mountain combining adrenaline, culture, and breathtaking scenery.

The adventure begins with a transfer from your hotel in Cusco to the Sacred Valley, where we start the ATV ride. In Moray, you will discover the enigmatic circular terraces used by the Incas for agricultural experimentation, while in Maras, you will explore the famous salt mines an incredible set of salt ponds carved into the mountainside.

After the ATV experience, we continue to Ollantaytambo, where you will board the panoramic train to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Town). Here, you will spend the night to prepare for the big adventure the following day.

Early in the morning, we head up to Machu Picchu, where you will take a guided tour of the Inca citadel, exploring its temples, terraces, and plazas. Afterwards, we ascend to Huayna Picchu, the iconic mountain that offers a spectacular view of the Inca wonder. Following this unforgettable experience, we begin the return journey by train to Ollantaytambo and then by tourist transport back to Cusco, concluding a trip full of adventure and culture.

PROGRAM SUMMARY

Day 01

Cusco / Cruzpata / Maras / Moray / Ollantaytambo / Aguas Calientes

We begin our adventure with a transfer from Cusco to Cruzpata to start the ATV experience through the landscapes of the Sacred Valley. We will visit Moray and the Maras Salt Mines before continuing to Ollantaytambo, where we will board the panoramic train to Aguas Calientes, the gateway to Machu Picchu.

Day 02

Aguas Calientes / Machu Picchu / Huayna Picchu / Ollantaytambo / Cusco

Early in the morning, we will visit the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu with a guided tour through its temples, terraces, and plazas. Afterwards, we will ascend Huayna Picchu for breathtaking panoramic views. Once the visit is complete, we will return to Aguas Calientes, take the train back to Ollantaytambo, and continue by tourist bus to Cusco.

DAY 01: CUSCO + MARAS + MORAY + OLLANTAYTAMBO + AGUAS CALIENTES

  • We begin this exciting experience with an ATV tour through the Sacred Valley, combining adventure and culture in a single route. We will pick you up from your hotel for a brief safety briefing and practice session with the vehicles before heading toward the impressive archaeological sites of Moray and the Maras Salt Mines. Along the way, you will be able to admire Inca agricultural architecture and their advanced irrigation systems, which continue to amaze with their precision and functionality.
  • You will have about 25 minutes at each site to explore Moray known as the Incas’ agricultural laboratory and the Maras Salt Mines, a complex of salt ponds used since pre-Inca times where you can observe the salt production process. After the ATV adventure, we will head to Urubamba, where you will enjoy a buffet lunch at a local restaurant featuring the best of Andean cuisine.
  • In the afternoon, we will continue to Ollantaytambo to board the scenic train to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo), where you will rest before the next day’s visit to Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu.

  • After enjoying a delicious breakfast, we will continue with the transfer to the bus station to board the ecological buses that will take us to the Archaeological Sanctuary of Machu Picchu on a 25-minute ride. Upon arrival, you will immerse yourself in the history of this iconic Inca city, exploring its plazas, temples, pathways, terraces, and aqueducts. Our expert guide will accompany you, sharing details about its architecture, culture, and the chronicles surrounding this enigmatic citadel.
  • After the guided tour, we will begin the ascent to the impressive Huayna Picchu Mountain, one of the towering peaks that surround Machu Picchu, located at 2,667 m.a.s.l. This hike, which takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, is an exciting challenge with steep trails, but the reward at the summit is an unparalleled panoramic view of the Inca city and its natural surroundings.
  • From the top, you will be able to capture stunning photographs of Machu Picchu from a unique perspective.
  • After the exploration, we will descend to the entrance of the sanctuary to board the bus back to Aguas Calientes. Here, you will have free time to enjoy lunch and explore the town before boarding the train back to Ollantaytambo.
  • Upon arrival, our team will be waiting to transfer you back to your hotel in Cusco, concluding a day filled with history, adventure, and unforgettable landscapes.

  • At Huayna Picchu, the hike is demanding due to steep trails. Walk at your own pace and take breaks whenever necessary.
  • Stay hydrated throughout the entire tour; the climate can be dry and sun exposure can be prolonged.
  • Bring sunscreen, insect repellent, water, light snacks, pain relievers, and any personal medication you may need.
