TRAVEL DESCRIPTION

Our 5-day Machu Picchu and Sacred Valley Tour is perfect if you want to explore Cusco without rushing, enjoying each destination calmly and comfortably. We will begin by visiting the impressive archaeological sites of Sacsayhuamán, Qenqo, Pukapukara, and Tambomachay, and then explore the magical Sacred Valley with its highlights: Pisac, Urubamba, and Ollantaytambo.

From there, you will take a train to Aguas Calientes to rest before visiting the mystical Inca city of Machu Picchu. We will wrap up the trip with the incredible Maras Salt Mines, Moray, and Chinchero, discovering more about the fascinating Inca history. Finally, make the most of your last day with an optional walking tour of the city before your transfer to the airport. An unforgettable adventure awaits you!

PROGRAM SUMMARY

Day 01

Cusco | Sacsayhuamán | Qenqo | Pukapukara | Tambomachay | Cusco

On your first day, we will pick you up from the airport and in the afternoon we will do the City Tour where we will visit Sacsayhuamán, Qenqo, Pukapukara and Tambomachay.

Day 02

Cusco | Taray Viewpoint | Pisac | Pisac Handicraft Market | Urubamba | Ollantaytambo | Aguas Calientes

In the morning we will start the Sacred Valley tour at approximately 7:30 a.m. where we will visit the Taray Viewpoint, the Archaeological Park of Pisac and its handicraft market, lunch in Urubamba, Ollantaytambo and finally we will sleep in Aguas Calientes.

Day 03

Aguas Calientes | Machu Picchu | Aguas Calientes | Ollantaytambo | Cusco

We will ascend to Machu Picchu where we will make a memorable visit of approximately 2 hours and additional time to walk in this dreamlike place.

Day 04

Cusco | Moray | Maras Salt Flats | Chinchero | Cusco

This day we start around 8:30 a.m. towards the northwest and visit the archaeological site of Moray, Maras and its impressive salt flats and finally the palace of Tupac Inka Yupanki in Chinchero.

Day 05

Walking Tour in Cusco | Cusco Airport

After breakfast at the hotel you will have the option to take a Walking Tour of the city and at the time of your flight we will transfer you to the Airport.

TRAVEL ITINERARY

Day 1: Cusco Airport / Cusco / Sacsayhuaman / Qenqo / Pukapukara / Tambomachay / Cusco

  • We will welcome you at the Cusco airport and transfer you to your hotel. The rest of the day will be free for you to rest and acclimate to the altitude (3,350 m above sea level).
  • In the afternoon, we will begin the City Tour with pick-up from your hotel. We will visit the Qoricancha temple to delve into the history of the region.
  • We will then continue to Sacsayhuamán, known for its megalithic constructions, where you will have time to take photos. After that, we will visit Puka Pukara, famous for the reddish color of its structures.
  • Our last stop will be Tambomachay, where you will receive the final explanations from the guide before concluding the day.

  • Your adventure begins with morning pick-up from your hotel. We will head toward the Sacred Valley, with our first stop in Chinchero, famous for its textile traditions and ancestral weaving techniques.
  • We will continue to Pisac, stopping at the Taray viewpoint for photos of the valley. In Pisac, we will admire its impressive agricultural terraces preserved on the hillsides.
  • We will then head to Urubamba to enjoy a lunch with typical dishes from the region.
  • We will visit Ollantaytambo, an imposing Inca fortress with monumental terraces, temples, and ceremonial fountains.
  • From Ollantaytambo, we will take the train to Aguas Calientes (approximately 2 hours), enjoying the Andean landscape along the way.
  • Upon arrival, our staff will accompany you to your hotel. You will have free time to explore the town or rest before your visit to Machu Picchu the following day.
    • Meals: Breakfast at the hotel and lunch in Urubamba.
    • Accommodation: Hotel in Aguas Calientes.
  • After breakfast, your guide will pick you up and accompany you to the eco-bus station. A 30-minute ride will take us to the entrance of Machu Picchu, one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World.
  • We will enjoy a guided tour of approximately two hours inside the Inca citadel. During the visit, you will feel the unique energy of this mystical place and be amazed by the incredible architecture left behind by ancient cultures. Don’t forget to take as many photos as you like.
  • After exploring Machu Picchu, we will return to the town by eco-bus. You will have free time for lunch (on your own) and you will receive final instructions about your return train. Our staff will be waiting for you at the Ollantaytambo station for your transfer back to Cusco, where this tour will end.

    • Accommodation: Hotel in Cusco.
  • On this wonderful day, our team will pick you up in the morning. Once everything is ready, we will head to the picturesque town of Chinchero, where we will visit its beautiful colonial church and an impressive archaeological site. We will also have the opportunity to visit one of the local textile centers, where you will learn how traditional weavings are made.
  • We will then continue to the Maras salt mines, where there are more than 3,000 salt pools owned by local families. Here you can also buy this salt in small quantities and taste it.
  • Our last stop will be Moray, known for its incredible circular terraces that remain an enigma to this day. You will receive an explanation from our guide, who will share the most interesting information about this site.
  • Finally, we will return to the city of Cusco, ending this day full of experiences.

  • On this last day, depending on your flight schedule, you will have time in the morning to take an optional walking tour in the city of Cusco for approximately 2 hours. We will visit the main squares and streets of the city, as well as the traditional San Pedro market. Finally, we will transfer you to the airport for your farewell.
