DESCRIPTION OF THE TRIP
Experience Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world, by visiting the Uros Floating Islands and Taquile Island in a single day.
The Uros Floating Islands are a group of artificial islands built with totora reeds, where the inhabitants preserve ancestral traditions and a unique way of life in harmony with the lake. During the visit, you will learn about their history, family organization, their homes, and how they build and maintain the islands.
Taquile Island stands out for its agricultural terraces, panoramic views of the lake, and a community organized under customs inherited from Inca times. It is world-famous for its handmade textiles, recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage, and for the active participation of both men and women in weaving, communal work, and daily life.
This tour allows you to combine nature, living culture, and local cuisine in a single day, departing from and returning to the city of Puno.
PROGRAM
Puno | Uros | Taquile | Plaza | Puno
The tour begins in Puno, sailing to the Uros Floating Islands, where you’ll learn about their culture and way of life. Then, we’ll visit Taquile Island, famous for its textiles and ancestral traditions, enjoying a typical lunch and a tour of its Main Plaza. Finally, we return to Puno, concluding a day full of history and unique landscapes.
Itinerary Lake Titicaca Full Day Tour
DAY 1: PUNO / UROS / TAQUILE / MAIN SQUARE / PUNO

Transfer from the hotels to the port of Puno.
Pick-up from hotels in downtown Puno and a brief introduction by the guide about Lake Titicaca and the day’s itinerary. -
Boat ride and visit to the Uros Floating Islands.
Boarding a tourist boat with life jackets, explanation about the lake’s flora, fauna, and Uro culture, visit to one of the floating islands, entry into local homes, and time for photos and handicrafts. -
Boat ride to Taquile Island.
Boat trip (approx. 1 hr 15 min) with panoramic views of the lake and the mountain range, while the guide explains the history of Taquile and its textiles recognized by UNESCO. -
Taquile tour and typical lunch.
Easy walk to the main square, passing by agricultural terraces and viewpoints; explanation of community life and local customs. Typical lunch prepared with local ingredients and free time for photos and shopping for handicrafts. -
Return to Puno.
Walk back to the dock, boat ride back to Puno (approx. 2 hr 30 min), and final transfer to the hotels, concluding the tour to Uros and Taquile Islands.
